Silent Knots: Master the Anchor Bend
Welcome to Silent Knots!
In this video, we explore how to tie the Anchor Bend - a secure and time-tested method for fastening rope to a ring, shackle, or anchor. Known for its strength and reliability under load, it’s a must-know for any serious sailor.
What You’ll Learn:
Description: Despite its name, the Anchor Bend is technically a hitch - designed for attaching rope to a solid object like an anchor or mooring ring. It offers excellent strength, resists slipping under tension, and is less likely to jam than many other hitches.
Traditionally used in anchoring systems, this knot is also perfect for permanent or semi-permanent attachments in sailing and rigging where reliability is paramount.
For added security, the free end is often finished with a half hitch or secured to the standing part.
