Cost of ownership calculator
A planning figure for what a sailboat costs to run each year, by length overall: berth, winter storage, insurance, antifouling, engine, rig, diesel. It is not an insurer's quote, and it is not the CapEx a listing hides (osmosis, rigging, teak decks). The open table is a Swedish baseline. The calculator swaps in a different berth and winter line only where two harbours on the same type of contract have published prices. Insurance and maintenance do not change with the country, so a total for Denmark, Germany or the Netherlands is not a full local year.
Annual ownership budget by LOA (EUR, Sweden only)
| LOA | Examples | Annual total (EUR) |
|---|---|---|
| Under 10 m | e.g. Albin Vega 27, Moody 33 | 5000 € - 8500 € |
| 10-12 m | e.g. HR 36, Oceanis 40 | 6000 € - 10 000 € |
| 12-14 m | e.g. HR 412, Najad 440 | 8500 € - 13 000 € |
| 14 m+ | e.g. HR 43, Najad 440 | 10 500 € - 16 000 € |

Methodology and assumptions
The yearly total is the berth, plus winter where a tariff exists, plus the Swedish lines for the boat itself.
The country you pick sets the berth and winter lines. Insurance, antifouling, engine, rig, diesel and miscellaneous stay on the Swedish planning bands for 2024-2025, whatever the country. The insurance line is not a Danish, German or Dutch premium.
For lengths other than 10-12 m, the local 10-12 m tariff is stretched along the curve of the Swedish line. That is a scaling shape, not a second harbour price.
The city and guest-harbour uplifts exist for Sweden only. More engine hours raise diesel and miscellaneous, nothing else.
Sweden. Berth from May to October 3,000-4,500 EUR and winter ashore 800-1,500 EUR for 10-12 m. These are academy planning bands, not one marina's price list.
Denmark. Seasonal berth 10.5-11.49 m: Toft 10,400 DKK, Minde 13,910 DKK. Winter afloat: 7,429 and 9,936 DKK. Converted at 7.46038 DKK = 1 EUR. Source: Marina Minde price lists, 2026 season. This is not a haul-out.
Germany. Two Baltic season prices for boats up to 12 m, 2025: Wiking Yachthafen 1,200 EUR, Meerzeit pontoon at Olpenitz 2,250 EUR. Not a national average. These berths have no published winter tariff, so the winter line is left out.
Netherlands. Annual contract for 11 m, boat stays afloat: Makkum 2,280 EUR (2025/26), DEKO Lelystad 2,468 EUR, Lelystad Haven 2,633 EUR, Muiderzand 3,271 EUR (2026 list). The Swedish winter haul-out is not added.
Not in the calculator. One harbour is not a country, and different kinds of contract are not averaged. Helsinki 2025 prices the berth by width: 3.01-4.00 m is 426-490 EUR a year. Le Havre 2025: annual pontoon 11.51-12 m is 3,631 EUR. ACI Dubrovnik published list: annual wet berth 11 m 6,614 EUR, 12 m 7,754 EUR. Port Ginesta 2025: 12 m annual 6,300 EUR. Port Solent, October 2025 - September 2026: £760 on the 11.1-12.0 m row; the extract does not say whether that is per boat or per metre. Sant’Andrea 2024: 12 m annual about 3,980-4,895 EUR, ashore storage without the crane. Marina dei Presidi 2025: June - September only, 12 m at 12,650 EUR. Flisvos 2025 charges length times beam and bills boats under 15 m as 15 m by 4 m, ex VAT. Lefkas shows no annual price on its marina page. Poland, Turkey, Cyprus, Slovenia and Montenegro: no published seasonal or annual berth near 11 m in this pass. Lakes, Austria, the United States, Canada, Australia, and the Caribbean are not in this euro calculator.
Limits. No loan interest, no osmosis repair or rig replacement, no club dues. Your own harbour contract overrides every figure here.

FAQ
- Is this an insurer quote?
- No. The insurance line is a Swedish academy planning band, not a policy quote. An insurer prices your boat, your region and the contract terms, so this calculator cannot stand in for an offer. It also does not read CapEx from a listing; that is a separate question.
- Does this include loan payments or major refits?
- No. It covers typical yearly running costs: marina, insurance, winter storage, routine maintenance and diesel. Financing, osmosis treatment, a new rig and teak decks are one-off capital costs. For those, run the CapEx scanner on the listing text or order the €49 listing review.
- Which region should I pick?
- Sweden: academy planning bands, May to October plus winter ashore. Denmark: two Marina Minde harbours, season plus winter afloat. Germany: two Baltic season prices, no winter line. Netherlands: an annual contract with the boat afloat, four harbours. Insurance and maintenance use the Swedish bands in every country, so the total is not a full local year.
- Where do the numbers come from?
- Each berth and winter figure is named with its harbour and year in the methodology section. The other lines are the Swedish planning bands for 2024-2025. A single price list is not a national price, so it does not go into the calculator.
