Antifouling calculator

Type waterline length, beam, and draft. The page estimates underwater area and how many litres to buy for the coats you chose.

Estimate from the sizes you typed. It is not the spreading rate on a tin and not a yard quote. Real area changes with keel, rudder, coating already on the hull, and how you apply it. Check the square metres per litre on the tin you buy.

How this is calculated

Area = hull factor × waterline length × (beam + draft). Full underwater body 1.00, medium 0.75, slim 0.50. These are the metric factors from International Yacht Paint. The German shortcut that sets a long keel to 0.50 is not used. Litres for one coat = area divided by the square metres per litre you type. The 8 is a planning figure, not the tin. Litres for the coats = that amount × the number of coats. The buy range adds 10% and 20% for waste and a rougher hull. If you type a price per litre, the euro line is your price times the upper end. If length, beam, draft, coverage, or coats is missing or zero, the result stays hidden.

FAQ

Is this the amount on the tin?
No. Replace the coverage figure with the square metres per litre printed on the tin you buy.
