Sailing courses in Sweden
FairHelm runs liveaboard ISSA sailing courses in Sweden from mid-May to September — Stockholm archipelago passages, mooring drills and the annual Gotland offshore week.
- Season: mid-May to end of September; Baltic daylight and sheltered archipelago training.
- Courses: Yacht Crew, Inshore Skipper, Offshore Skipper (Gotland trip) and instructor training.
- Small crews (max 4) with Mindhelm debriefs — focus, responsibility and documented seamanship.
- Marina logistics: guest berths, club waiting lists and winter storage culture shape real-world skills.
Why train in Sweden?
Sweden offers short tacks, granite skerries and honest weather — ideal for building seamanship without theatre. The Stockholm archipelago teaches pilotage, mooring against wind and reading squalls on short fetch. Gotland adds an offshore leg: night watches, passage planning and crew fatigue management on a fixed-date Offshore Skipper week each August.
FairHelm courses here are liveaboard ISSA weeks (Saturday to Saturday, 7 days / 6 nights). You helm, trim, navigate and debrief — not watch from the saloon.

Season and logistics
We operate mid-May through end of September. Early season builds confidence in cooler air and lighter traffic; July–August brings longer days and busy guest harbours — both are deliberate training environments.
Marinas and berths: prime Swedish clubs often have waiting lists. Our students learn guest-harbour planning, backup anchorages and the maintenance culture Nordic owners expect — skills that transfer directly if you later buy a Baltic cruiser (yacht advisory, HR 36 guides and ownership academy on the platform).
Gotland 2026: Offshore Skipper — Trip to Gotland runs 1–8 August 2026 (see schedule). Book early; berths and weather windows are part of the syllabus.
Mindhelm on Swedish waters
Our Mindhelm framework — focus, boundaries and honest debriefs — fits Baltic sailing: phones away during manoeuvres, clear call-and-response, and go/no-go calls when the archipelago funnel accelerates wind. Read the full Mindhelm methodology.
