Overview
Most wheel-steered cruisers hide an emergency tiller that engages the rudder stock when hydraulic or cable steering fails. Many owners never practice — first use in a seaway is the wrong time to learn.
Before you need it

When steering fails

- Call for assistance if rudder stock itself is damaged — tiller won't help
