X-Yachts model range explained — Pure X, Xc, Xp, and the classic hulls
How the X-Yachts lineup fits together: the Pure X, Xc and Xp lines, the classic 3-digit hulls (X-452/512/562/612), and the 'X' model numbers that were never built.
Introduction
X-Yachts is a Danish performance-cruiser builder founded in Haderslev in 1979. For decades its boats were drawn by co-founder Niels Jeppesen; current models (from roughly 2018 onward, such as the Xc 47) are credited to the in-house X-Yachts Design Team rather than Jeppesen personally. The range mixes moderate-displacement cruiser-racers with dedicated cruising and pure-performance lines, so the model names only make sense once you know how the lineup is organised.

The three current lines
Modern X-Yachts splits into three named families:

The number is the approximate length in feet (an X4⁶ is ~46 ft). The superscript styling ("X4⁶") is modern marketing; older boats use plain three-digit names instead.
The classic 3-digit hulls
Before the Pure X line, X-Yachts used three-digit hull names — the first two digits are the length in feet, the third is a generation marker. These are the boats most often cross-shopped on the Nordic used market:

Smaller classics in the same naming scheme include the X-362, X-382, X-412 and X-442. Dimensions above are from x-yachts.com, sailboatdata, boat-specs and SailWiki; where a published hull count is uncertain (e.g. the X-482) we leave it out rather than guess.
Reading the model names
A few rules avoid confusion:
- Three digits (X-3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx) = a classic hull from the 1980s–2000s (e.g. X-412).
- Pure X (X4⁶, X56) = the current flagship cruiser-racer line.
- Xc NN = the cruising line (e.g. Xc 47).
- Xp NN = the Xperformance line (e.g. Xp 44).
- A "cruising" classic often shares a hull with a numbered racer — the X-45, for instance, is the luxury cruising version of the X-452.
"X" numbers that are not real models
Because the naming is dense, fabricated or mislabelled "X" numbers circulate online. For a clean shortlist it helps to know what the lineup does not include. There is no plain X-36, X-38, X-42, X-44, X-47, X-48, X-52, X-58, X-60 or X-62, and no Xp 37 — the current numbered models are the Pure X (X4⁰/X4³/X4⁶/X4⁹/X56), Xc (47/50) and Xp (33/38/44/50/55) lines, plus the classic three-digit hulls. A listing using one of those non-existent numbers is usually a mislabelled classic (for example, an "X-47" is more likely an Xc 47) — confirm the real hull before you treat it as a distinct model.
