Instructor and school
An instructor and an ISSA sailing school are not the same thing. On this page we talk about two questions: how to become an instructor, and how to open or accredit a school. Assessment is about the person. Accreditation is about the school.
You do not teach yet
First how to become an instructor, then the checklist, then the training.
You already teach
Assessment in person, to the trainer, on site.
A school
An instructor with an ISSA certificate.
How to become an instructor
If you do not teach courses yet, the page How to become an instructor says whom we expect on the training and where the training runs.
Checklist for instructor candidates
This checklist is used on the Instructor training. It has four marks: what you can already do and what you still lack. You read the points on the page Checklist for instructor candidates.
Instructor training

Vadim Nareyko, a trainer, leads the courses for instructors.
Instructor training is the training itself: five full days on board, a group of up to four. What it costs, what the price includes, and what experience you need at the start are written on the Instructor training page, and the Instructor training page has no dates.
Instructor assessment procedure
If you already teach courses and you need an assessment as an ISSA instructor, you do not need the whole training. The page Instructor assessment procedure says how the assessment differs from instructor training, and what it costs.
How to open a school
You open a new ISSA sailing school, or you accredit a school that already teaches. A school is not accredited without an instructor who holds an ISSA certificate. The page How to open a school says how the school assessment runs and what the fee costs.
