Short briefing for a 1-2 hour outing

Short outing - short briefing. Essentials only. Everyone is still crew.

For a 1-2 hour outing you do not need the full week sheet - you need focus. This template does not replace the full crew briefing for a charter week. Download to print / “save as PDF”: crew-safety-briefing-short-ru-en.md.

Essentials (5-7 minutes at the berth)

  1. We are a crew. On the water there are no “guests who only sunbathe”: everyone has a role, even on a short loop. Detail: crew roles.
  2. Lifejackets - where they are; who wears one at the berth (kids, new sailors, wind/wave - skipper’s call).
  3. Roles leaving and returning - bow, stern, fenders; one voice at the helm.
  4. MOB - who shouts and points, who steers, who prepares a throw; plain words.
  5. Where not to stand - sheets, winches, stern edge in a manoeuvre.
  6. How we call the skipper - one plain word if something is wrong.
  7. Return - by when and where, if weather turns early.

Signatures

For the skipper, a signature also marks responsibility: people heard the essentials before departure. Not an exam.
