Saronic Gulf weekend route
A long-weekend Saronic circuit from Athens-area bases — sheltered waters, frequent ferries, and classic island harbour towns.
- Ideal for crews new to Greek sailing — shorter fetch than open Cyclades.
- Hydra is car-free — plan stern-to early in season.
- Combine with [sea trial checklist](/en/academy/yachts/buying/sea-trial-checklist/) skills if testing a newly purchased cruiser.
Weekend plan
Friday evening: Base in Kalamaki or Alimos — inventory, safety brief.
Saturday: Sail to Aegina (≈12 NM) — Perdika or main port; taverna logistics.
Sunday AM: Aegina → Poros (≈18 NM) through narrow channel — current awareness.
Sunday PM / Monday: Poros → Hydra (≈15 NM) or return direct if weather tight.
Why Saronic first
Flat water, VHF traffic practice, and forgiving distances. Many Nordic buyers test Mediterranean ownership here before committing to a Baltic-season boat.
Frequently asked questions
