We reply within 2-3 days.

The X-Yachts previous-models page has no heading for the X-452. The heading is X-45, and the sentence under it says this is the cruising version, built in the same hull mould as the X-452. Under that heading the page prints 1987-1991, 20 hulls, and a hull length of 13.92 m. sailboatdata and the Wikipedia table put those same three figures on the X-452 row. The previous page put the series among recognizable ones and wrote "Scandinavian yards" in the plural. The yard is in Haderslev. The card on this site already shows 13.92 m, a beam of 4.25 m, and the years 1987-1991. Those three fields match sailboatdata. The card shows no draft.

Twenty and twenty do not add. The yard's sheet has one number, and it sits under the other name. sailboatdata puts the same number under this name. A shared hull mould is in the yard's sentence. The sentence does not say how many of the twenty received the cruising layout.

Key takeaways

  • Best for: papers that keep the yard's X-45 heading off this hull count
  • Common issue: the old page called 20 hulls a popular Scandinavian series
  • Typical price: no sourced kronor band; 8,942 kg is the sailboatdata line

Design history

The designer is Niels Jeppesen on sailboatdata. The rig there is masthead, the keel is a fin, and the rudder is a spade. The length is 13.92 m, which is 45.67 ft. The beam is 4.25 m, which is 13.94 ft. The waterline is 10.75 m. Displacement is 8,942 kg, which is 19,713 lb, one line. Ballast is 3,950 kg, which is 8,708 lb. The sheet does not name the ballast material. Draft is 2.50 m, which is 8.20 ft. The page prints no shallow draft. The engine is a Yanmar diesel, 55 hp, fuel 200 L, water 280 L. There is no engine model code. Headroom is 2.01 m.

Sail area on the same sheet is not one figure. The reported area is 93.70 m², which is 1,008.58 square feet. The triangle sum is printed as 39.49 m², and that is the same figure as the main. The sheet prints I 17.80 m, P 15.80 m, and E 5.00 m. J is not printed. A note below attributes four figures to a review in the Italian magazine Mare, which sailboatdata says was on the yard's site: main 45.4 m², 150 percent 72.5 m², 100 percent 48.3 m², spinnaker 160 m². That review itself is not open here. 93.70, 39.49, and 45.4 stay apart.

The X45 card on this site is a different boat: 2012-2018, length 13.70 m, beam 4.38 m. The yard's X-45 heading is about 1987-1991 and 13.92 m. IMX 45 on the Wikipedia table is 2002-2004, 24 hulls, and 13.74 m.

Typical problems

The name on the papers decides whose twenty this is. If an advert says only "X-45" and a year from 1987-1991, that is the yard's heading, not the 2012 X45 card. If the papers say X-452, the length 13.92 m and the beam 4.25 m match both this site's card and sailboatdata. This site's card does not show the 2.50 m draft.

Buyer FAQ

Are twenty hulls the X-45 or the X-452?

On the yard's page the number sits under the heading X-45. On sailboatdata and in the Wikipedia table the same 20 sit on the X-452 row. The yard's sentence is about one hull mould. There is no second count, so the two names do not add up to forty.

Is the X45 card on this site the same boat?

No. The X45 has the years 2012-2018 and a length of 13.70 m. The X-45 heading on the previous-models page is about 1987-1991 and 13.92 m.

Annual ownership costs

The kronor table from the previous page stays off this one. The berth line of 22,000-48,000 kronor has no source. The asking price of one advert is not a series either.

Calculators for this boat

Indicative figure for weekend use. The country supplies berth and winter. The insurance line stays the Swedish planning band - not a Danish, German, or Dutch premium. Maintenance stays Swedish too. Not a marina quote.

  • Netherlands (annual contract)€6,090 - €9,448
  • Sweden (planning bands)€8,050 - €12,750
  • Denmark (two harbours, season)€6,154 - €9,327

Antifouling

Litres need waterline length and draft. This page only has length overall and beam, so litres are not calculated here.

Pre-purchase survey checklist

At a viewing before a deposit, read the name on the papers, not the line about a recognizable series from Scandinavian yards.

  • The yard's heading is X-45, years 1987-1991, 20 hulls, hull length 13.92 m. On sailboatdata and in the Wikipedia table the same three figures are on the X-452 row. There is no second count.
  • The X45 card on this site is 2012-2018, 13.70 m. That is not this row.
  • The rig on sailboatdata is masthead. The engine is a Yanmar, 55 hp, fuel 200 L, water 280 L. There is no model code.
  • The length 13.92 m and the beam 4.25 m on this site's card match sailboatdata. The draft on the card is empty. On the sailboatdata sheet the draft is 2.50 m.
  • Sails: reported 93.70 m², a triangle sum of 39.49 m² matching the main, and the Mare note kept apart. J is not on the sheet.
  • The X-442 has its own 127 hulls and its own year 2003. Do not paste those here.
