Sea Lights privacy

Updated: 5 October 2026

Precise location is read only while the chart is on screen, and only if you allow it. FairHelm does not receive the track. There is no account.

Who is responsible

Sea Lights is a FairHelm chart. This page covers only Sea Lights: the Android app and the chart on this site. The rest of fairhelm.com is described in the site privacy policy.

Questions about these data go to [email protected].

What the chart is

Sea Lights shows the sectors and rhythm of sea lights. It is a chart for looking. It is not a certified navigation system.

Location

Precise location is read only while Sea Lights is on screen, and only if you allow it. It is used to place your point and to show course, distance and bearing to a chosen light.

FairHelm does not receive that track and does not store it as a route file. You can refuse location and type coordinates. Stopping location ends the watch.

What leaves the device

When a network is available, the visible area is requested from OpenStreetMap. If you turn the marks layer on, that same area is also requested from OpenSeaMap. Nearby lights may be requested from Overpass. A search goes to Photon. These requests use HTTPS because you opened the chart.

A light-catalog update is requested from FairHelm without coordinates and without an account, and only when you ask for it. There is no analytics and no advertising. The data are not sold.

What stays on the device

Chart tiles you have already opened, and the light catalog, stay on the device until you delete them in settings. The language choice and the location decision stay on the device too.

There is no account, so there is no account to delete. A message to [email protected] is kept so we can reply.

Chart sources

The base map is © OpenStreetMap contributors. Marks are © OpenSeaMap. French lights are © Shom.
