The advert says Comfort 32. The yard in Arvika, a town in western Sweden, sent her out in three states: deck and keel without furniture, spars, or fittings; a kit whose interior was not yet assembled; and a boat that was finished. Segling writes that many were unfinished, and the used market still shows it in the workmanship. The stern cabin is two berths. You climb down through a hatch in the raised stern, much as on the S30 and the Maxi 95. People live there in order to sleep.

This page is for someone reading a Comfort 32 advert who has not yet decided what was bought: a finished boat, or someone else's assembly. The live chips now say 9.47 m, 3.27 m, and the years 1977-1982. The beam 3.27 m agrees with Segling, Sailguide, sailboatdata, and Maringuiden. The length does not: Segling's box says 9.50 m, Sailguide and Maringuiden also say 9.5 m, sailboatdata says 9.47 m on the same waterline of 7.50 m. We do not pick one length. Designer Kenneth Albinsson, yard Comfortbåtar AB. That is what Segling writes.

Design history

The cards do not say this. Sailguide is shorter: finished or three-quarters, introduced in 1978, built until 1982, about 400 hulls. sailboatdata writes 1977-1982 and 308 hulls. Listings Port repeats 308 and 4,600 kg. That is the same line, not a second count. We do not pick one hull count.

The weight disagrees more sharply: Segling 3.9 tonnes, Sailguide 4,500 kg, sailboatdata 4,600 kg (10,141 lb), Maringuiden 3,090 kg. The lead keel is closer: Segling 1.8 tonnes, sailboatdata 1,830 kg. The old "about 5,096 kg" from the live page does not come back. It is not in these sources.

Segling quotes a brochure: a fast hull, so that one could race it with success, and at the same time a boat for a quiet family pace. In the same place, as the magazine tells it, the prototype was second in class IV on the race around Gotland in 1977 and won the next year. We did not open the brochure or the race record. That is a line in the magazine, not our record.

From the same article, not from the card index: mainsail 18.5 m², genoa 38 m², staysail 24 m², spinnaker 84 m². The standard engine in the Segling text is a Volvo Penta MD11C, 23 horsepower, with a saildrive. sailboatdata prints another: Volvo Penta MD2B, 25 horsepower. Until the seller shows the plate, these are two engines in two texts, not "the Comfort 32 engine".

Typical problems

On strength, Segling is careful. The magazine did not see built-in floor timbers (in Swedish, bottenstockar; they take the keel's load). Ulf Kjellström, hull number 28, a boat from 1982 named Tabu, had heard of one boat with trouble at the keel and had no damage himself after groundings. Roland Johansson, then chairman of the Comfort 32 association, had not heard of large troubles from members. He had heard about the seals of the skylight and the cockpit hatches: they leaked. Separate cases on Ulf's boat, a loose bolt on the wheel cable and a blocked drain of a plastic locker in the deck, after which water came inside, are not a rule for the whole series.

Do not confuse this boat with the Comfortina 32: another name, another model. We do not import that boat's dimensions here.

Annual ownership costs

The prices in the article transcript are blank where the kronor stood. We do not carry over the annual-cost table in kronor from the current page: it has no source. The current handicap is also a gap. The figure LYS 1.11 in the article is the Tabu owner's opinion that the boat earns that number, not an official sheet for this year.

Calculators for this boat

Indicative figure for weekend use. The country supplies berth and winter. The insurance line stays the Swedish planning band - not a Danish, German, or Dutch premium. Maintenance stays Swedish too. Not a marina quote.

  • Netherlands (annual contract)€3,700 - €6,312
  • Sweden (planning bands)€4,950 - €8,550
  • Denmark (two harbours, season)€3,771 - €6,191

Antifouling

Litres need waterline length and draft. This page only has length overall and beam, so litres are not calculated here.

Pre-purchase survey checklist

Before a deposit, the same stakes as the live checklist, and no kronor table without a source.

  • Which of the three states the boat left the yard in, and who assembled the furniture.
  • Moisture at the chainplates.
  • Age of the standing rigging.
  • The saildrive log.
  • The engine plate: the texts have an MD11C at 23 horsepower and an MD2B at 25. One number is not chosen.

Neighbouring pages are already on the site: the Comfort 30 from the same yard, the Comfortina 32 from another line. The comparisons nearby are for a fork of length and cockpit, not for pasting Comfort 32 figures.
