Sailing courses in Turkey

FairHelm offers ISSA liveaboard sailing courses in Turkey in summer — Aegean bays, anchoring discipline and coastal pilotage with Mindhelm crew culture.

  • Aegean and Mediterranean bays — anchoring, shore lines and thermal wind patterns.
  • Liveaboard ISSA weeks with small crews; same Saturday-to-Saturday format as other bases.
  • Strong option for Yacht Crew and Inshore consolidation in warm water.
  • Season aligned with FairHelm May–September operating window.

Why train in Turkey?

Turkish coasts mix deep anchorages, thermal breezes and long visible horizons — excellent for building anchoring discipline, bay pilotage and crew routines away from Baltic cold. FairHelm courses here follow the same ISSA liveaboard structure as Sweden and Croatia: 7 days, 6 nights, max 4 students per boat.

Courses we run in Turkey

We schedule Yacht Crew and Inshore Skipper weeks when instructor availability and enrolment support a Turkish base. Syllabus content matches our course pages:

FocusOn the water
Yacht CrewSafety, helming basics, sail handling, living aboard
Inshore SkipperPassage plans, anchoring strategies, marina and bay etiquette

Contact us for the current season’s dates — not every year lists fixed Turkish events on the public schedule, but enquiries are welcome from March onward.

Season and logistics

Mid-May to end of September is our operating season. Early and late weeks can offer quieter anchorages; peak summer adds traffic that trains VHF awareness and patience at the helm.

Travel: fly to regional airports (routes vary by base — instructions after booking). We recommend arriving the day before embarkation when international flights are involved.

Ownership context: Turkey appears in many buyers’ Mediterranean plans. Pair your course with yacht academy guides on surveys, budgeting and model research before you shop listings on FairHelm yachts.

Mindhelm on Turkish waters

Thermal winds and sudden chop reward pre-briefed manoeuvres and clear roles — core Mindhelm habits. We treat anchoring drills as seriously as mooring in Stockholm: scope, swing room, and a documented plan before the first beer ashore.

Ask about Turkey weeks via contact or review Yacht Crew prerequisites if you are starting from zero. Explore the Academy portal for ownership guides after your first warm-water season.

Frequently asked questions

Turkish weeks depend on season demand and instructor scheduling. Contact us for confirmed dates — we publish fixed events on the schedule when available.
Which certificate level fits a Turkey course?
Yacht Crew suits beginners; Inshore Skipper suits sailors with prior miles or Yacht Crew completion. We help you choose before you book.
How do Turkey courses compare to Sweden?
Same ISSA syllabus and Mindhelm culture; different geography — warm-water anchoring and Mediterranean logistics vs Baltic archipelago and offshore Gotland passages.
